Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, held a meeting with leaders of Orascom Construction to follow up on the executive status of the strategic logistics warehouse project in Fayoum, which serves Fayoum and several Upper Egypt governorates.
The meeting was attended by Eng. Osama Bishai, Chairman of Orascom Construction, Khaled El-Degwi, Head of Investment, and Mohamed Halim, Investment Director. Representing the Ministry of Supply were Hossam El-Garrahy, Vice Chairman of the General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC) and ITDA supervisor, and Dr. Alaa Nagi, Chairman of the Food Industries Holding Company.
During the meeting, current achievement rates were reviewed alongside the future steps required to ensure completion according to the specified timelines. Emphasis was placed on overcoming all obstacles facing the investor to ensure rapid execution according to the highest quality standards.
The discussions also explored ways to enhance the partnership between Orascom Construction and the Food Industries Holding Company, particularly in developing oil and sugar factories. Additionally, they discussed Orascom's potential contribution to developing silos and increasing storage capacities for GASC, which contributes to raising the efficiency of the storage system and achieving sustainable food security.
Dr. Sherif Farouk emphasized that the Fayoum Strategic Warehouse is one of the major national projects. He noted that the ministry has worked to facilitate all procedures for Orascom Construction, providing all necessary support to ensure speed of implementation and quality of performance.
The Minister explained that private sector partnership is a key pillar for the success of national projects, stating that cooperation with leading national companies like Orascom demonstrates mutual trust and strengthens the state's ability to build advanced infrastructure to secure citizens' needs for strategic commodities.
For his part, Eng. Osama Bishai expressed his appreciation for the continuous support provided by the Ministry of Supply, affirming Orascom Construction's commitment to executing the project with the required quality and timing, keeping pace with the state's ambitions in developing the logistics and storage sector.
